This is a photographer who was born in the 80s, watching my mother, grandparents and uncle sketch a camera with film on birthdays and family parties. When I dedicated myself to photography my only possibility was whether or not to work with negatives. Although it is true that digital photography appeared in the 1996 (Atlanta 96 Olympic Games) it had not become so widespread due to its prices in the rest of the world, especially Chile. I, a pretentious 22-year-old young photographer and recently father and with few resources in my pocket, carried out my first massive project (Flowery Desert of Human Bodies 2002) and I still remember the two kodachrome films and the 5 kodak 200 ISO films in my pants, press , people and an anxious population attentive to this great project, committed friends and everyone attentive to the result, but above all things I always remember the connection that one must feel with the team that one works in my case was a faithful and well admired Zenit 122 given by my mother, all these elements are essential to combine what I have built just feeling dedication for what I love the most after my family which is photography.

The choice of the film is essential, in this case they were the protagonists of an image full of colors where painters friends and volunteers were part of this beautiful project, and once again my thanks to them. The need for the physical is my essential need to work with film with the tangible.

This relationship is based on feeling the film, imagining what registered what stopped in time, sensations that can only be understood in the exercise of using analog equipment, let me tell you that it is an attraction that catches you and gives you crumbs so that always come back for her. 

Te habla un fotógrafo que nació en los 80 viendo en los cumpleaños y fiestas familiares esbozar a mi madre, abuelos y tío una cámara con película. Cuando me dedique a la fotografía mi única posibilidad era si o si trabajar con negativos. Si bien es cierto la fotografía digital apareció en el 1996 (juegos olímpicos de Atlanta 96) no se había masificado tanto por sus precios en el resto del mundo en especial a Chile. Yo un joven fotógrafo de 22 años pretencioso y recientemente padre y con pocos recursos en el bolsillo realice mi primer proyecto masivo (Desierto florido de cuerpos humanos 2002) y aun recuerdo las dos películas kodachrome y las 5 películas kodak 200 ISO en mi pantalón, prensa, gente y una angustiosa población atentas a este gran proyecto, amigos comprometidos y todo el mundo atento al resultado, pero por sobre todas las cosas siempre recuerdo la conexión que uno debe sentir con el equipo que uno trabaja en mi caso era una fiel y bien admirada Zenit 122 regalada por mi madre, todos estos elementos son esenciales para conjugar lo que he construido solo sintiendo dedicación por lo que mas amo después de mi familia que es la fotografía.

La elección de la película es fundamental, en este caso eran protagonistas de una imagen llena de colores donde pintores amigos y voluntarios fueron parte de este bello proyecto, y una vez mas mis agradecimientos a ellos. La necesidad de lo físico es mi esencial necesidad de trabajar con película con lo tangible.

Esta relación se basa con el sentir la película, imaginar lo que registro lo que detuvo en el tiempo, sensaciones que solo se pueden entender en el ejerció de utilizar un equipo analógico, déjame decirte que es una atracción que te atrapa te da migajas para que siempre vuelvas por ella.
